A pressure seal form is a piece of paper that becomes its own envelope. Print on both sides, fold, apply pressure along the sealed edges, and the finished piece is a self-contained mailer. No insert, no envelope, no match step.

The format covers a wide range of operational mail: notification letters, regulatory notices, tax documents, checks with remittance information, password mailers, account activation notices, and anything else that needs to go out at volume with variable content.

When to choose a pressure seal form

Pressure seal makes sense when the economics of envelope insertion stop working. That happens at volume, when recipient data varies on every piece, when the content is sensitive enough that a mismatch is a compliance event, or when turnaround is tight and the inserter line is a bottleneck.

It also makes sense for mail that needs to look like a document rather than an advertisement. The sealed edges and official appearance of a pressure seal form get opened at much higher rates than marketing envelopes.

Form types and layouts

The 2-panel letter fold is the most common format. It prints at 8.5 x 11 and folds in half. The 3-panel tri-fold prints at 8.5 x 14 and gives you more content area. The extended format prints at 8.5 x 16.5 for long-form content like detailed statements or multi-page notices.

Each format is available with or without an address window. Windowed forms are common for transactional work where the address comes from the variable data. Non-windowed forms are common for notices where the full address is printed on the sealed panel.

Checks and MICR

Pressure seal check mailers combine the check, the remittance stub, and the mailer into a single sheet. We print MICR line, variable payee and amount fields, and perforation lines so the recipient can tear off the check while keeping the remittance.

For payroll, refund, rebate, and dividend check runs, the single-sheet format eliminates check-envelope mismatch as a failure mode and reduces per-piece cost compared to separate check stock plus envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper stocks are available?

Standard pressure seal stocks are 24 lb and 28 lb bond in white. Heavier stocks and colored papers are available on request for runs above minimum volume.

Can you print MICR for check mailings?

Yes. MICR printing with magnetic toner is available on pressure seal check formats. We handle MICR line setup, variable payee and amount fields, and the check stock requirements.

Is the seal tamper-evident?

The pressure seal adhesive bonds permanently on all four edges of the folded form. Opening the piece requires tearing the perforated edges, which leaves visible evidence if the mail is opened in transit.

Can you produce multi-part forms?

Pressure seal is a single-sheet format. Multi-part carbonless forms use a different production method. For high-volume mail applications, single-sheet pressure seal with duplicated content panels is almost always the better economic choice.

What is the largest form size you can produce?

The standard extended format is 8.5 x 16.5. Larger formats are available on request for specific compliance or content requirements.
